FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE:

NEW PAINTINGS BY ROBIN BRAUN AND B. MILLNER ON VIEW AT THE
PAGE BOND GALLERY OCTOBER 2, 2009

These works will be on display at the Page Bond Gallery, 1625 West Main Street, with an opening reception honoring the artists, Friday, October 2, 2009 from 7 to 9 PM. The exhibition extends from Wednesday, September 30 through Saturday October 31.

Robin Braun’s signature seascapes interpret and catalog our relationship to the natural world. Capturing a sense of fluidity and atmospheric depth, Braun illustrates the volatile nature of the ocean. These charged vistas encompass the energy of the sea either on the cusp of erupting into ferocious turmoil or immediately following when calm prevails.

Robin Braun received her BA in Liberal Arts from St. Johns College in Santa Fe, NM and in 1997 she completed her MFA in painting from the University of Iowa. Braun has exhibited work extensively throughout the east coast including 1708 Gallery, Richmond, VA, Soho Myriad, Atlanta, GA, and Gallery Saint Martin, Philadelphia, PA. Additionally, her work can be found in several of Virginia’s largest corporate and public art collections. Among them, Capital One Financial Corporation, Richmond, VA, The University of Virginia Cancer Center, Charlottesville, VA, and Martha Jefferson Hospital Charlottesville, VA.

B. Millner’s newest work explores the tidal flats of Maine, Virginia and South Carolina, absent of human presence, his paintings reference human activity with an occasional abandon boat or empty wharf. “I was drawn to these mudscapes by their serenity and quiet beauty. Surely there are few places in nature that change more frequently and inexorably than the flats” says Millner. Despite the sense of isolation, these scenes avoid any feeling of loneliness. They present the viewer with an opportunity to enter coastal places and experience solitude without any confined parameters.

Millner’s paintings and sculpture have been exhibited throughout the East Coast and are included in several public collections including, Wachovia / Wells Fargo, The Federal Reserve Bank, Union PSCE, Owens and Minor, Capital One Services, and Dominion Resources as well as many private collections.

The Page Bond Gallery, located at 1625 West Main Street, exhibits contemporary art in a wide variety of media and disciplines including painting, printmaking, photography, sculpture and ceramics. The gallery acts as a showcase for the work of emerging as well as established artists with local, national and international reputations.

The exhibition of works by Robin Braun and B. Millner opens at the Page Bond Gallery with a reception for the artists on Friday, October 2 from 7 to 9 PM and will be on view through October 31, 2009.
